Web presence
Internet presence has began to be one of the most important factors in marketing and public relations. If you have a company you can dialog with your clients, let them know what services you provide and attract them to your business. If you represent just yourself, having a blog is the way to go. Blogs offer a very easy to use platform for content management. Say you like cars and talk about them all day or you are a movie fan and bicker about which actor is best, a blog is the place where you can let your ideas hit the web.
You need 3 things to be represented on the web:
- A domain name is much like your home address or phone number. It represents a way that people can find and communicate with you just by typing in some words. For instance you have a non-governmental organization and you want to get a domain that suites you well. In this case you choose a .org domain. The most popular domains are com, net, org, tv, ws, and other country names.
- Web hosting is the actual “house” where you host your website. Here you store all your data. The most important thing to watch out when choosing a web host is limiting. Bandwidth and space limiting can become painstaking issues. I recommend Hostgator because it’s one of the cheapest and most-offering hosts out there. You can get hosting for unlimited websites with about 7 bucks.
- A website is your representation on the web. We will talk about making websites or blogs in further articles but now i want to stick with the easy stuff. If you don’t know your way around web-editing software like Macromedia Dreamweaver or Adobe Photoshop you might want to use already-made websites or you can go that extra mile and pay someone to do the boring stuff.
If you ever have problems with your websites feel free to post your problems here. I will try and help you as much as i can.
