Test if your Antivirus is working
Don’t let yourself fooled by Antivirus slogans like “100% virus proof”. The best way to convince yourself is to test it out. No need to download viruses or malware for the job. EICAR has developed a virus test file that simulates malware activity.
How to test:
Open Notepad and paste the following string in a empty file:
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
When you save the document your AV should alert you that it has found EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!. If not, try again with a decent Antivirus like Nod32.
