Adobe Photoshop hanging problem

Lately I encountered a devastating problem regarding my favorite image editing software, Adobe Photoshop CS 2. Whilst loading all settings and extras, Photoshop has a splash screen with some info regarding the process. It seems to stall at “Reading Text Global Resources… ” every time i load Photoshop.

How to fix this problem?

  1. Make sure you close all Photoshop instances, including a possible hidden one (whilst stalling) in process tab.
  2. Find “Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs.psp” localized in C:\Documents and Settings\*user\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings\
    * replace “user” with your implicit Windows user
  3. Delete “Adobe Photoshop CS Prefs.psp” or rename it. The goal here is to modify it’s name or existence so Photoshop can’t find it.
  4. Start Photoshop and ideally nothing bad will happen.
